Agave pintilla is typically single-headed, but often pups out at the base to form a multi-headed clump. A mature rosette grows to about 12 to 24 in. (30 to 60 cm), with between 60 and 180 leaves. The deep green leaf surfaces have prominent white markings, with most plants displaying short white longitudinal lines or dots on the back of the leaf. Leaf length is from 5 to 8 in. (13 to 22 cm), and the leaf width is from 2 to 3in. (5.8 to 8 cm). Mature plants bloom with tall, unbranched stalk with white flowers. The leaves are edged with white, and they have a short, sharp black terminal spine, which can be multi-pronged. (Not collected – nursery propagated via seed or divisions.)
