Agave applanata
This widely distributed Agave of the central Mexican oak pine highlands forms mostly solitary rosettes of gorgeous powder blue to gunmetal gray color. Plants typically mature to at 3 to 5 ft., but some in habitat have been noted to reach 6 ft. The linear lanceolate leaves are armed with large sharp reddish-brown to gray curved marginal teeth and end in a long slender, sharp terminal spine. Prized A. applanata plants display a unique serpentine terminal spine. (see pics)Â
